From a sustainable management perspective, the objective of this Agency is to orient and increase the development of private forest land within its territory. The Programme d’aide à la mise en valeur des forêts privées (Private Land Development Assistance Program) allows developers to cover up to 80% of the costs of silvicultural operations and develop forest management plans.

This organization promotes the interests of private wood lot owners. It administers the Gaspé joint wood producers plan and markets wood from private forest land in Gaspé as well as Canada’s ground hemlock biomass.
Consortium en foresterie de la Gaspésie-Les-Iles
The mission of the Consortium is to acquire and transfer knowledge regarding forests in Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands, with a view to sustainable development.
For example, two private firms, Activa Environnement and Pesca Environnement, have acquired state-of-the-art expertise and are actively involved in the sustainable development of the forestry sector in Baie-des-Chaleurs.
