The RCM of Avignon, located in the western sector of the Baie-des-Chaleurs region, extends from les Plateaux de Matapédia to the Municipality of Maria. Its territory covers 3,460 km²  and contains 13, 471 inhabitants living in 11 municipalities and two Micmac Nation communities.
